Ma’roof Platform Boosts Trust in Oman’s E-Commerce: What It Means for Your Business Growth
MUSCAT: The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion is intensifying its efforts to regulate Oman’s e-commerce sector and enhance consumer confidence through the Ma’roof Oman platform. This national initiative verifies licensed online stores operating within the Sultanate, allowing buyers to confirm that sellers hold official licences issued by the Ministry. The platform also facilitates communication between merchants and customers, promoting transparency in digital transactions, especially during high-demand periods such as Ramadhan and Eid.
Ma’roof Oman plays a vital role in supporting the digital economy by helping online businesses prove their legitimacy and expand their customer reach, while enabling consumers to make informed and secure purchasing decisions. By February 2026, the platform had registered 340 e-commerce stores, with 670 applications submitted. This trend reflects increased awareness among business owners about the importance of authentication and a growing consumer preference for licensed sellers.
Azza bint Ibrahim al Kindi, Director of the Department of Commercial Affairs and E-Commerce at the Ministry, described the platform as a strategic measure to regulate online trade and foster a culture of safe and responsible shopping. She emphasized that Ma’roof Oman boosts the credibility of compliant merchants, enhances their competitive edge, and empowers consumers to verify store authenticity before making purchases. The Ministry remains dedicated to creating a secure and dynamic digital environment that supports sustainable growth and protects consumer rights.
To support these initiatives, the Ministry has launched a comprehensive media campaign encouraging consumers to verify store authentication certificates before buying online and urging merchants to complete their registration on the platform. The campaign highlights themes of trust, security, and informed decision-making, positioning Ma’roof Oman as a cornerstone of Oman’s digital transformation and national economic development. — ONA
