Oman’s Electricity Production Surges 8.4%: Key Opportunities and Impacts for Investors and Business Owners
MUSCAT: Oman’s total electricity production rose by 8.4% by the end of September 2025, reaching 41,164.9 gigawatt-hours (GWh), compared to 37,959.3 GWh during the same period in 2024.
Preliminary data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information also indicated an 8.2% increase in net electricity production, which includes purchases by the Oman Power and Water Procurement Company and the Rural Areas Electricity Company. Net production reached 39,973.6 GWh by the end of September 2025, up from 36,944.8 GWh at the end of September 2024.
Conversely, total water production in Oman showed a slight decline of 0.6%, totaling approximately 387.702 million cubic metres by the end of September 2025, compared to 390.197 million cubic metres during the same period last year.
Water production in Muscat Governorate fell by 11.2%, dropping to 154.377 million cubic metres from 173.854 million cubic metres in 2024.
In contrast, Dhofar Governorate experienced a 3.8% increase in water production, reaching 57.516 million cubic metres.
