Oman and Eritrea Explore New Economic Cooperation: Opportunities for Investors and Entrepreneurs

MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Eritrea have reaffirmed their dedication to enhancing trade and investment relations during a high-level meeting held in Muscat. Senior officials from both countries convened to explore new opportunities for collaboration.

Qais bin Mohammed al Yousef, Oman’s Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, welcomed Nasiruddin Mohammed Saleh, Eritrea’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, who is undertaking a two-day official visit to Oman. The visit involves discussions with key public and private sector representatives aimed at strengthening bilateral economic ties.

The ministers reviewed current cooperation in trade, industry, and investment, while identifying promising sectors for partnership, including mining, manufacturing, tourism, food security, and logistics. They also explored ways to enhance trade exchanges and foster stronger connections between businesses in both countries.

Discussions extended to cooperation in energy, minerals, livestock, and fisheries, as well as the establishment of direct banking channels to facilitate smoother trade and imports. Both ministers endorsed the proposal to organise an Omani-Eritrean Business Forum to link entrepreneurs and investors and explore joint ventures in productive industries.

Al Yousef described the visit as a key milestone in expanding economic cooperation between Oman and Eritrea in alignment with Oman Vision 2040. He highlighted the ministry’s ongoing efforts to build economic ties with African nations to diversify markets and attract high-quality investments.

During his visit, Minister Saleh will engage with officials from various Omani institutions and private firms to exchange expertise on enhancing the business environment, promoting industrial investment, and advancing logistics and export capabilities. — ONA
