Oman’s First Biodiesel Fuel Station Opens in Duqm: What It Means for Investors and Businesses in the Green Energy Sector

Duqm Gateway Station Inaugurated by Oman Oil Marketing Company in Duqm SEZ

Muscat: Oman Oil Marketing Company (OOMCO) has officially opened the Duqm Gateway Station within the Duqm Special Economic Zone. This facility is notable for being the Sultanate’s first filling station to dispense biodiesel fuel, representing a significant step in the company’s efforts to upgrade Oman’s energy and logistics infrastructure. The station supports the rapid development of Duqm, a vital hub driving the country’s economic growth.

The inauguration ceremony was led by Ibtisam bint Ahmed Al Farooji, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion for investment promotion. Also present were Ashraf bin Hamad Al Maamari, Group CEO of OQ; Tarik bin Mohammed Al Junaidi, CEO of OOMCO; and representatives from various public and private sector organizations.

With an impressive operational capacity capable of pumping up to 750 liters per minute, the Duqm Gateway Station ranks among the most efficient fuel facilities in Oman. It functions as a comprehensive service hub for trucks and fuel tankers, featuring specialized maintenance zones, lubricant oil change and truck wash services, along with modern top-loading systems and advanced digital technology.

“Duqm represents a new chapter in Oman’s infrastructure story,” said Tarik Al Junaidi, CEO of OOMCO. “With this station, we’re extending our network in step with the country’s progress — offering reliable service to people on the road and supporting the logistics backbone that keeps Duqm moving.”

The station also includes shaded truck bays, a convenience store, rest areas, and infrastructure equipped for renewable fuel dispensing and digital payment methods. This facility complements OOMCO’s broader presence in Duqm, which includes the OOMCO Marine bunker terminal at the Port of Duqm, supplying marine fuel and storage services to international shipping lines.
