Oman to Host Air Traffic Management Meeting: Implications for Aviation and Investment Opportunities
Muscat – The Sultanate of Oman, through the Civil Aviation Authority, will host the Air Traffic Management (ATM) Coordination Meeting and the Middle East Crisis Management (MID) Workshop tomorrow. These events are organized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and include participation from the ICAO Regional Office for the Middle East and Asia Pacific (APAC). The meetings will run until February 5, 2026.
Delegates from 19 countries and three international organizations—the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the International Air Transport Association (IATA), and the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL)—will attend. Additionally, three airlines will be represented, with a total of 90 participants comprising experts, specialists, and airspace users.
The ATM Coordination Meeting, taking place from February 1 to 3, will address global developments in air traffic management, challenges impacting air traffic flow in the Middle East and regional junctions, strategies to improve airspace management, bolster regional coordination, and update interstate agreements on air traffic services (ATS).
Following this, the Crisis Management Framework Workshop, scheduled for February 4 and 5, will focus on reviewing ICAO’s emergency planning requirements, the operational framework of the ICAO Emergency Coordination Team (CCT), and sharing experiences across ICAO regions. The workshop aims to strengthen cross-border coordination and enhance regional emergency response arrangements.
This event highlights Oman’s role as a significant regional hub in civil aviation and its commitment to supporting ICAO’s initiatives. It also reinforces Oman’s efforts to foster regional and international cooperation, improve safety, and increase the operational efficiency of airspace in the region.
