Mobile Subscriptions in Oman Surge: Key Insights for Investors and Business Growth Opportunities
MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman saw a 7 percent increase in the total number of mobile subscriptions by the end of 2025, reaching 8,054,413, compared to the same period in 2024, according to the latest data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information.
Active post-paid mobile subscriptions rose by 3 percent to 1,273,795, while prepaid subscriptions experienced a modest 1 percent growth, totaling 5,148,166.
Internet of Things (IoT) subscriptions exhibited significant growth, surging by 42 percent to 1,632,452 by December 2025. Additionally, internet services continued to expand, with total active mobile broadband subscriptions increasing to 5,421,911. Total active fixed broadband subscriptions also rose by 3 percent, reaching 598,907.
Fibre-optic subscriptions grew by 9 percent to 356,897, and fixed 5G subscriptions saw a slight 1 percent increase, reaching 219,862 by the year’s end. Conversely, fixed 4G subscriptions sharply declined by 53 percent to 10,448.
Subscriptions to Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) services decreased by 34 percent to 9,856, whereas satellite subscriptions experienced a substantial rise of 173 percent, reaching 1,101. Other subscriptions, including internet access via power lines, Ethernet, and leased lines, dropped by 9 percent to 743 by the end of December 2025 compared to the same timeframe in 2024. — ONA
