Omani Business Mission Completes Canton Fair Visit: Opportunities for Expanding Trade and Investment in China
Muscat/Guangzhou — A delegation from the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), accompanied by a group of Omani businessmen, has successfully completed a seven-day visit to China. During the visit, the delegation participated in the first and second phases of the Canton Fair and toured several factories in the Shufan Industrial Zone, focusing on plastics, aluminium, sanitary ware, and furniture sectors.
OCCI Vice-Chairman Eng. Hamoud bin Salem Al Saadi highlighted that the mission underscores the Chamber’s commitment to establishing direct channels with key markets such as China, Oman’s most significant trading partner. The initiative aims to explore trade and import opportunities that support Oman’s national economy and align with its development priorities.
Eng. Saeed bin Ali Al Abri, Chairman of OCCI’s North Al Batinah branch, emphasized that the factory visits in the Shufan area provided valuable insights into manufacturing quality, technical expertise, and advanced industrial innovations. These experiences are expected to foster strategic partnerships and enhance trade and investment relations between Oman and China.
The delegation also stressed the importance of leveraging global expertise and translating the visit’s results into tangible improvements within Oman’s business environment, particularly in the industrial and service sectors.
The visit, which took place from 17 to 24 October, included meetings with Chinese business leaders to discuss investment opportunities in industry and commerce. Chinese representatives were invited to participate in the upcoming Sohar Investment Forum in North Al Batinah Governorate, scheduled for February 2026.
