New Samayil Hospital Pact: What It Means for Healthcare Investment and Business Growth in Oman
The Government of the Sultanate of Oman has signed a landmark financing agreement with the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development to support the construction of the new Samayil Hospital in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, marking a significant step in enhancing the country’s healthcare infrastructure.
The agreement was signed by Sultan bin Salim al Habsi, Minister of Finance, representing the Omani government, and Waleed bin Shamlan al Bahar, Director General of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.
The new hospital is designed to significantly improve healthcare services in the Wilayat of Samayil and its surrounding areas by providing advanced medical care for both citizens and residents. The facility will be a modern, integrated healthcare center equipped with state-of-the-art medical technologies and specialised departments to address a wide range of medical needs.
Planned to accommodate 170 beds, with the capacity to expand to 300, the hospital will occupy a total area of 250,000 square metres, including a built-up area of 65,804 square metres. Upon completion, it will alleviate the pressure on referral hospitals in neighbouring governorates and improve access to essential medical services within Al Dakhiliyah Governorate.
This collaboration highlights Oman’s commitment to advancing its healthcare system in line with the strategic objectives of Oman Vision 2040, which prioritises the development of a world-class healthcare infrastructure. Additionally, the project aims to nurture local medical expertise by creating training and employment opportunities for Omani medical and nursing professionals.
By enhancing healthcare capacity and promoting human capital development, the Samayil Hospital project reinforces Oman’s broader efforts to establish a resilient and efficient healthcare network across all governorates, ensuring equitable access to quality care for all citizens. — ONA
