Arabian Gulf Security 4 Drill Concludes in Doha: Implications for Regional Business Stability and Investment Climate
DOHA: Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal al Busaidy, Oman’s Minister of Interior, attended the conclusion of the joint tactical exercise “Arabian Gulf Security 4” held in Qatar on Wednesday. The event brought together interior ministers from the GCC member states.
Oman’s participation included personnel from the Royal Oman Police, the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority, and the Medical City for Military and Security Services. This involvement is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen joint Gulf security operations and enhance coordination and integration among GCC security agencies.
Upon arrival, Sayyid Hamoud was welcomed by Shaikh Khalifa bin Hamad al Thani, Qatar’s Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya).
The exercise’s concluding activities featured demonstrations of rapid intervention tactics and countermeasures against potential security threats. Precise simulations covered counter-terrorism operations, protection of critical infrastructure, and crisis management. Throughout these demonstrations, security forces exhibited exceptional response speed and seamless coordination among the various units.
In addition to Gulf security agencies and forces, specialised units from the United States also participated. The exercise aimed to boost security readiness, improve operational integration, and evaluate the effectiveness of response plans and mechanisms. It highlighted the advanced capabilities and professionalism achieved by Gulf security agencies in addressing diverse security challenges.
Spanning 11 days, the exercise involved over 70 training scenarios, totaling more than 260 hours of intensive field training.
Earlier on Wednesday, Sayyid Hamoud arrived in Doha and was received by Sayyid Ammar bin Abdullah al Busaidy, Oman’s Ambassador to Qatar. He was accompanied by a delegation that included Maj Gen Abdullah bin Ali al Harthy, Assistant Inspector General of Police and Customs for Operations; Maj Gen Sulaiman bin Ali al Husseini, Chairman of the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority; and other officials.
The closing ceremony was attended by Jasem bin Mohammed Al Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the GCC.
