Future of Work Forum Unveils Bold Vision to Transform Oman’s Labour Market and Boost Business Opportunities
Salalah: The Ministry of Labour concluded the Future of Work Forum today, marking the end of two days of engaging discussions that brought together leading experts, policymakers, and labour market specialists from Oman and internationally.
Organized as part of Labour Forum 2025, the event examined the evolving work environment in Oman and identified key steps needed to prepare for the future. Topics ranged from social protection measures and career guidance to the increasing importance of mental resilience in the workplace, all contributing to a forward-looking vision for how people live and work in the Sultanate.
A highlight of the forum was the session titled “Fostering an Enabling Work Environment and Attracting Talent,” which addressed critical issues in the labour sector. Experts emphasized the need for stronger public-private partnerships, improved occupational safety standards, and more effective social protection systems to enable Omanis to succeed in the economy of tomorrow.
Another significant panel, “Social Dialogue and the Future of Labour Markets,” focused on the importance of inclusive dialogue among governments, businesses, and workers in developing balanced, fair, and resilient labour policies. Participants advocated for innovative engagement models to ensure that voices across all levels—from factory floors to executive offices—contribute to shaping the future of work.
Concurrent with the main forum, the “Future Talents: Thought and Work” student exhibition attracted considerable interest. Showcasing creative projects by vocational college students, the exhibition featured a notable workshop on “Psychological and Professional Resilience,” underscoring the vital role of soft skills alongside technical expertise in today’s workforce.
The exhibition is open to the public until Thursday, 7 August.
