Ibra, July 10 – A new initiative called “Our Safe Home” has launched in the North Sharqiya Governorate of Ibra, spearheaded by the Ministry of Social Development across various regions in Oman. This program aims to enhance family security concepts and foster a nurturing home environment characterized by understanding, affection, and respect among family members.
Sara bint Ahmed Al Maskariyah, Director of the Family Development Department at the General Directorate of Social Development in North Sharqiya, stated that the initiative focuses on strengthening family cohesion, promoting positive dialogue within families, and reinforcing shared values that contribute to creating a safe and stable environment for all members. She emphasized that this initiative responds to modern challenges facing families, including the impact of social media on family ties and values.
The initiative aims to achieve several key objectives: raising family awareness about contemporary educational challenges, providing families with positive parenting skills to enhance healthy values, and empowering young people and those preparing for marriage to make more informed decisions in their marital lives. Additionally, it seeks to increase awareness among professionals and familiarize them with an early warning system to address psychological and behavioral issues in students.
The initiative features several workshops, including the first titled “Digital Upbringing in a Changing World”, presented by Dr. Mohammed bin Rabi’ Al-Toubi from Al Sharqiya University. The second workshop, “Red Flag for Teenagers and Students on Courtship and Marriage”, was presented by Yousef bin Nasser Al-Awsi. Furthermore, the program includes a visual presentation on His Majesty the Sultan’s esteemed speeches regarding proper upbringing, as well as another visual presentation focusing on family relationships.
It is noteworthy that the “Our Safe Home” initiative aims to build families that are more aware and stable, capable of facing contemporary challenges. This initiative is part of the Ministry of Social Development’s ongoing efforts to strengthen family cohesion and embed principles of constructive dialogue, ultimately contributing to psychological and familial stability and reinforcing community values.
