Messi Leads Inter Miami to Victory: What This Means for Sports Investment Opportunities in the U.S.

Montreal, July 6 — Argentine star Lionel Messi led Inter Miami to a significant victory against Montreal, winning 4-1 in the team’s first appearance in the Major League Soccer after participating in the FIFA Club World Cup.

Montreal opened the scoring early in the second minute with a goal from German striker Prince Owusu, who capitalized on a mistake by Messi. However, the Argentine quickly redeemed himself by assisting teammate Tadío Allende for the equalizing goal in the 33rd minute, with Allende deftly placing the ball in the net with a brilliant chip.

Before halftime, Messi scored to give his team the lead in the 40th minute, curling a shot from the right side of the penalty area into the far corner.

Miami continued to shine in the second half, with Venezuelan Telasco Sigovia scoring the third goal in the 60th minute. His powerful shot from outside the box hit the crossbar and found the back of the net. Just two minutes later, Messi added the fourth goal following an impressive individual effort, dancing around several defenders before slotting the ball home.

With this victory, Inter Miami now has 32 points, placing them sixth in the Eastern Conference, while Montreal remains at the bottom of the standings.

Inter Miami head coach Javier Mascherano commented after the match: “Returning after the Club World Cup was not easy, but the team delivered an exemplary performance, and Messi played a crucial role as always.”

Inter Miami is now preparing for five consecutive matches in July, as they aim to enhance their position in the league.
