2nd Rummana Agritourism Season in Al Jabal Al Akhdar: Exploring Opportunities for Investment and Business Growth in Oman

MUSCAT: The second edition of the Rummana event commenced on July 5, 2024, in Al Jabal Al Akhdar, launching a series of innovative agritourism initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable tourism in the region. This event seeks to provide unique experiences that attract visitors and support local agricultural production.

The opening ceremony, held under the patronage of Dr. Saud bin Hamoud al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources, gathered numerous dignitaries and officials from diverse sectors. Organized by Teepee in collaboration with the Agritourism Development Company (Janaen)—a joint venture between the Oman Tourism Development Company (OMRAN Group) and Oman Food Investment Holding Company (Nitaj)—the event also received strategic support from the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, as well as the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion.

In his address, Dr. al Habsi emphasized Oman’s rich natural resources, noting their potential to enhance the agricultural and tourism sectors. He expressed enthusiasm for the event, which he believes will significantly enrich the agritourism experience for visitors and aid local farmers in marketing their diverse products. During the ceremony, Janaen formalized a partnership with Teepee to develop, manage, and operate farms in Al Jabal Al Akhdar, which will promote both agricultural and tourist aspects year-round. This partnership will also include workshops designed for children and young adults to foster agricultural knowledge and engagement.

Dr. Hashil Obaid al Mahrouqi, CEO of OMRAN Group and Chairman of Janaen’s Board of Directors, remarked that the second edition of Rummana demonstrates a commitment to enhancing Oman’s agritourism sector, building on the successful foundation laid by last year’s event. He highlighted the potential of Al Jabal Al Akhdar as a premier destination for cultural, agricultural, and tourism experiences.

Al Amajaad Hilal al Mawali, Co-founder of Teepee Oman, indicated excitement for this year’s event, which provides diverse activities tailored for all visitors, ranging from individuals to families. This year’s offerings include entertainment areas, pomegranate sales, food and beverage stalls, and more.

Rummana will run from now until September 28, 2024, at the Janaen farm in the village of Seeh Qitna, Al Jabal Al Akhdar. Attendees can enjoy a variety of activities including tours of pomegranate fields, fruit picking experiences, and educational sessions about cultivation practices. The event will feature a recreational activities corner and a souvenir market focused on pomegranates and local mountain fruits.
