Extended Validity of Expat Resident Cards: Key Implications for Business Expansion in Oman

Muscat: The Inspector General of Police and Customs has announced Decision 157/2025, which amends certain provisions of the Executive Regulations of the Civil Status Law.

According to the new decision, the validity period for residence cards has been extended to a maximum of 10 years, an increase from the previous limit of three years. This change applies to specific categories and controls established by the Director General. Cardholders are required to renew their residence cards within 30 days of expiration.

Additionally, the fee for the residence card is set at RO 5 per year, with the total period not exceeding 10 years. For those needing a replacement card due to damage, the cost will be RO 20.
