Severe Flooding in New Mexico: How Recent Tragedies Impact Investment Opportunities in the Region

On July 9, three people tragically lost their lives due to flooding that impacted the mountain village of Ruidoso in southern New Mexico.

The floods caused a surge of water, mud, and debris down the mountainsides, which have suffered significant damage in recent years from both wildfires and subsequent flooding.

The Ruidoso Village Council reported that the floodwaters swept away a man, a 4-year-old girl, and a 7-year-old boy.

According to the New Mexico Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, emergency crews conducted at least 85 rescue operations in the swift waters around Ruidoso, rescuing individuals who were trapped in their homes and vehicles.
