The Dhofar Governorate’s Khareef Season has been honored with the Outstanding Tourism Destination Award 2025 in London, underscoring Oman’s rising stature as a premier global tourism destination.
Sayyid Marwan bin Turki al Said, Governor of Dhofar, described the Khareef Season as “a comprehensive model in managing tourism destinations through effective planning, organisation, and integration of roles between government entities, the private sector, and the local community.” He highlighted that this award signifies the success of Dhofar’s Khareef Season as a national benchmark for coordinated development and tourism management, attracting visitors from both the region and worldwide.
Dr Ahmed bin Mohsen al Ghassani, Chairman of Dhofar Municipality, acknowledged that the international accolade reflects “a strong synergy among the various entities operating within the governorate,” emphasizing the crucial role of collaboration in achieving excellence.
Azzan bin Qassim al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Tourism, noted that the year saw the inauguration of several new hotels, boosting Dhofar’s accommodation capacity. He confirmed that the governorate now offers over 8,000 hotel rooms, demonstrating ongoing investment and growth in the hospitality sector.
