Oman and Muscat Ranked Safest Places Worldwide: What This Means for Investors and Business Growth

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman, along with its capital Muscat, continues to rank among the safest locations globally, according to the mid-year report by Numbeo.

Muscat is positioned as one of the world’s safest cities, ranking just behind Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Doha, Ras al Khaimah, Sharjah, and Taipei. Notably, six of the top eight safest cities are located within the GCC region.

The report highlights a very low probability of crimes such as housebreaks, car thefts, thefts from vehicles, physical or verbal attacks based on skin color, ethnicity, gender, or religion, as well as violent crimes including assault and armed robbery.

In Muscat, it is deemed very safe to walk alone during daylight hours and highly safe to do so at night.

Various countries’ travel advisories, including those from foreign ministries, recognize Oman as one of the safest countries worldwide, with impressively low crime rates. Nevertheless, these advisories recommend taking standard safety precautions, such as securing passports, money, and valuables in a locked bag or hotel safe.

Residents and travel operators suggest several safe and popular spots for nighttime walks in Muscat, including the Muttrah Waterfront, Shatti al Qurum, Qurum Natural Park, Seeb Waterfront, Al Hail Waterfront, Al Mouj Waterfront, and the old Al Aqr district in Nizwa.
