Oman’s Business Growth: What Investors and Entrepreneurs Need to Know About the Journey Back to Oman
When Brid Beeler first arrived in Oman in the early 1990s, she was immediately enchanted by its pristine landscapes—the rugged Hajar Mountains, the whispering dunes of Sharqiya, and the genuine warmth of its people. As a pioneering travel specialist with a profound appreciation for Arabian heritage, she has dedicated her career to revealing Oman’s hidden treasures to the world, expertly blending adventure with cultural immersion in every itinerary she designs.
By the age of 26, Brid had already experienced diverse adventures: sailing the Irish Sea on the brigantine Asgard II, riding wild Brumbies in Australia’s Snowy Mountains, fishing the Zambezi River, and climbing peaks across Yemen from Sa’da to Aden. Her wanderlust had led her overland across four continents, long before global travel became a social media phenomenon.
Her passion for exploration eventually brought her to the Middle East, where she spent nearly two decades. “While living in Saudi Arabia, we often visited Oman during holidays. That first trip made us return every year,” she recalls. “Oman’s forts and castles stood out—unlike anything else in the region. Even then, it was clear the country preserved its heritage with great pride.”
Brid’s journeys often took her beyond urban boundaries—to winding trails and windswept shores. “Once, while camping south of Ras Al Madrakah, I woke to see what appeared to be the entire beach moving,” she reminisces with a laugh. “Under the moonlight, millions of ghost crabs scurried across the sand. It was a biblical sight, like the parting of the Red Sea.”
Her early adventures fostered a deep admiration for Oman’s unique natural and cultural landscapes. “Oman’s ancient falaj irrigation systems and frankincense heritage set it apart. There’s a rare authenticity here—the quiet dignity of its people and landscapes untouched by time.”
With more than three decades of experience spanning six continents, Brid’s career in tourism flourished. She has collaborated with leading global travel brands such as Abercrombie & Kent, MT Sobek, and Discovery Channel Adventures. As Managing Director, she launched Oman’s first Destination Management Company for Abercrombie & Kent and pioneered eco-tourism experiences that harmonize luxury with discovery.
“Abercrombie & Kent expertly balanced comfort with adventure,” she explains. “We explored remote wadis and forts by day, then returned to five-star luxury at night. Oman has since perfected this blend—places like Zighy Bay are perfect examples.”
Her achievements are extensive, including leading Discovery Channel Adventures programs, managing Smithsonian Institution cultural tours, and producing award-winning documentaries—one of which, on Iran’s Qashqai nomads, was acquired by National Geographic. Despite such a global résumé, Oman holds a distinctive place in her heart.
“The warmth and openness of the Omani people are exceptional,” Brid observes. “Perhaps this stems from their maritime history of trading with Zanzibar, India, and the Swahili coast. That outward-looking generosity endures today.”
For Brid, Oman embodies both tranquility and discovery—where dramatic cliffs meet turquoise seas, and ancient traditions thrive amid modern life. “Whether you seek adventure or luxury, Oman leaves a profound impression few countries can match.”
Committed to promoting responsible travel and fostering cross-cultural understanding, Brid is guided by a core belief: travel at its best bridges worlds. “Cultural awareness and empathy are no longer optional,” she affirms. “They are essential to who we are and the future we wish to create.”
For this seasoned traveler, Oman is more than just a destination—it is a journey that never truly ends.
