Salalah Airport Welcomes New Belavia Flight from Belarus: What This Means for Business and Investment Opportunities in Oman

Salalah Airport has received its first direct flight from Belavia Airlines, establishing a new connection to Minsk International Airport in Belarus.

Belavia will operate this route once a week as part of Oman Airports’ initiative to enhance direct air links between the Sultanate of Oman and various tourist destinations in Eastern Europe.

Uladzimir Barkun, Deputy General Manager for Marketing and International Relations and Commercial Director of Belavia Airlines, described the launch of direct flights between Oman and Belarus as a significant step in strengthening economic, tourism, and cultural ties between the two nations. He also highlighted that this route is expected to be highly popular among travelers from Belarus visiting Oman.

This development follows the mutual visa waiver agreement signed between Belarus and the Sultanate of Oman on October 6, 2025, which is anticipated to boost tourism and increase flight traffic. The weekly flights are scheduled to operate until the end of March 2026, during the winter flight schedule.

The introduction of direct flights between Salalah and Minsk marks a significant opportunity for Oman’s tourism and hospitality sectors to tap into the rising influx of Eastern European travelers, especially from Belarus. Businesses should prepare to leverage this new visitor demographic through tailored services and partnerships, while investors might consider expanding offerings aligned with winter season tourism, anticipating sustained growth from enhanced bilateral ties and the recent visa waiver agreement.
