Bids Invited for Wadi Shab Adventure Park Development: Key Investment Opportunity for Oman’s Tourism Sector
Muscat: Oman Tourism Development Company (OMRAN Group) has announced a tender invitation for master planning, detailed design, and construction supervision services for the Wadi Shab Adventure Development project.
OMRAN is seeking bids from a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy firm to deliver comprehensive consultancy services aimed at transforming Wadi Shab into a premier adventure destination. The project’s objectives include enhancing the visitor experience while prioritizing safety, operational efficiency, environmental sustainability, structural integrity, and flood resilience.
The scope of services includes complete master planning, detailed design up to the “Issued for Construction” (IFC) stage, and preparation of full tender documentation. Construction supervision will be offered as an optional service to ensure adherence to approved designs and project specifications.
The deadline for submitting tenders is April 9.
Omran’s development plan envisions an adventure park featuring attractions such as a zip line, mountain climbing trails, suspension bridges, walking paths, swimming areas for both children and adults, as well as restaurants and cafes.
Wadi Shab is renowned for its rich biodiversity, unique geological formations, clear waters, caves, and waterfalls. In 2023, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism designated Wadi Shab as an official tourist destination.
Located in the Wilayat of Sur within the South Sharqiyah Governorate, Wadi Shab lies less than two hours’ drive from Muscat via the Muscat-Sur highway. It is a favored spot among both local and international visitors, celebrated for its scenic beauty.
Visitors can enjoy a boat ride across the water to the opposite side of the parking area for a nominal fare, which covers a round trip depending on the water levels.

The development of Wadi Shab as a premier adventure destination signals significant growth potential for Oman’s tourism sector, especially in experiential and eco-tourism. Businesses in hospitality, retail, and adventure services should prepare to capitalize on increased visitor traffic, while investors must consider the project’s focus on sustainability and safety as a competitive edge in attracting discerning tourists. Smart entrepreneurs should explore complementary ventures, such as guided tours, local crafts, and food outlets, to fully leverage this emerging tourism hub.
