Young Oman’s Ship Concludes Participation in Le Havre Sailing Festival: Implications for Oman’s Maritime Sector and Tourism Opportunities

On July 7, the Royal Oman Navy Ship “Shabab Oman II” concluded its participation in the Le Havre Sailing Festival, held from July 4 to 7 at the port of Le Havre, France. Following this, the ship will participate in a long-distance sailing race, which consists of four stages, as part of its seventh international journey to Europe, named “Glories of the Seas” for 2025.

During the festival, the ship was awarded the Best Ship in the crew parade, celebrated during an event organized on the festival’s second evening. This celebration included various activities, and the ship welcomed visitors throughout the festival, reinforcing its mission to promote friendship and solidarity between Oman and other nations by showcasing Oman’s rich culture and maritime heritage.

The crew also participated in the ship parade through the French city and engaged in numerous beach and water sports activities.

Notably, “Shabab Oman II” will make 30 stops and visit 24 ports across 15 countries during this six-month international journey. Its participation in the long-distance sailing race for 2025 will begin from the port of Le Havre and will include stops at the ports of Dunkirk, France; Aberdeen, Scotland; and Kristiansand, Norway, concluding with the final stop in Esbjerg, Denmark. Additionally, the ship will participate in sailing festivals in Bremerhaven, Germany, and Amsterdam, Netherlands.
