Pasha added that the fiscal implications of elevated oil revenues could be \u201cprofound\u201d for Oman.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe 2026 budget is based on a conservative estimate of <strong>$60 per barrel<\/strong>; thus, current prices are generating revenues significantly beyond projections, which could convert fiscal deficits into substantial surpluses and accelerate investments aligned with Oman Vision 2040,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p>Bhavya Chhawchharia, Relationship Manager for Large Corporate Banking at Oman Arab Bank, pointed out that while oil remains a focal point\u2014given that about <strong>20% of global flows<\/strong> pass through the Strait of Hormuz\u2014there is a notable capital reallocation across the GCC, with Oman becoming increasingly prominent. He emphasized that as infrastructure projects adapt through phased capital expenditures, supply chains are localizing, and new trade routes are emerging to reduce reliance on critical chokepoints. <\/p>\n<p>With all of Oman\u2019s oil and LNG exports bypassing Hormuz, key hubs such as Port of Duqm, Port of Sohar, and Port of Salalah are gaining importance, positioning Oman as a resilient logistics and industrial gateway. Chhawchharia added that robust regional banking liquidity exceeding <strong>$300 billion<\/strong>, along with a shift toward structured, cash flow-driven financing, is facilitating capital flow into Oman\u2019s energy, infrastructure, and green hydrogen projects. <\/p>\n<p>Economist Azza al Habsi from Ominvest cautioned that while record crude prices may yield short-term financial benefits, the broader economic outlook remains bleak, as wars typically do not produce true economic winners. She noted that even for the GCC, indirect repercussions are already becoming apparent through slowed investments, disrupted trade and tourism, rising reconstruction costs, and increased defense spending. <\/p>\n<p>More importantly, she warned that the region&#8217;s long-standing reputation as a stable investment hub is being undermined, potentially leading to a lasting geopolitical \u201crisk premium\u201d that may influence investor behavior.
