Governorate, as part of initiatives aimed at enhancing agricultural stability in areas adjacent to wadi beds. These projects are designed to minimize financial losses and support farmers in their cultivation efforts, thereby contributing to food security in the Sultanate of Oman.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources has successfully completed the construction of a protection wall in the Al Buwayridah area of Yanqul. Additionally, work is ongoing on another protection wall in the Al Bilad-Al Madam region, which is currently 30% complete. These initiatives are critical for mitigating flood risks and safeguarding agricultural land.<\/p>\n<p>Eng. Salim bin Suhail al Alawi, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources in Yanqul, highlighted that these projects demonstrate the collaborative efforts between the Ministry and the local community in preserving agricultural resources. He pointed out that the concrete walls significantly reduce the impact of wadi water, particularly in the context of climate change. Al Alawi emphasized that the department provides technical and engineering oversight throughout the implementation phases to ensure compliance with approved specifications and achieve the highest quality standards, thereby enhancing the effectiveness and sustainability of the flood protection measures.<\/p>\n<p>The two projects are being executed through a community partnership, with residents contributing 80% of the total costs while the Ministry covers the remaining 20%. This collaboration aims to protect agricultural holdings from soil erosion and the adverse effects of flash floods.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of technical specifications, the protective wall in the Al Buwayridah area spans 150 meters in length and stands three meters high, having been constructed in accordance with approved engineering standards. Meanwhile, the protective wall in the Al Bilad-Al Madam area is approximately 1,700 meters long and also three meters high, with construction efforts ongoing to meet the established
