passengers in 2025 and achieving positive EBITDA for the first time in over 15 years. This achievement highlights the success of the airline\u2019s restructuring efforts aimed at restoring financial sustainability and supporting Oman\u2019s broader economic diversification.<\/p>\n<p>During a joint media briefing on Monday, Oman Air detailed its strategy focused on cost discipline, network optimisation, and enhancing the passenger experience. The airline reported a 34% year-on-year increase in point-to-point traffic, with these passengers representing 64% of total volume. Additionally, the load factor rose to 82%, indicating stronger demand and more efficient capacity use.<\/p>\n<p>Con Korfiatis, Chief Executive Officer of Oman Air, emphasized the progress made after years of losses. He stated, \u201cWe have taken decisive steps to restore financial viability while repositioning Oman Air as a strategic enabler of tourism and economic diversification.\u201d He highlighted that the positive EBITDA of RO 3.2 million marks a crucial milestone in the airline\u2019s recovery journey.<\/p>\n<p>The airline\u2019s operating loss narrowed significantly to RO 52.2 million in 2025, down from RO 72 million in 2024 and RO 103 million in 2023, demonstrating effective cost management. The unit cost (CASK) improved by 6% year-on-year to RO 25.6 million, while total bank debt decreased for the first time since 2009, reaching RO 27 million.<\/p>\n<p>Korfiatis stressed that cost reduction and fleet optimisation remain central to the airline\u2019s strategy. \u201cOur focus is on disciplined growth \u2014 improving efficiency, optimising our fleet, and ensuring every route contributes to profitability. We are not pursuing expansion for its own sake but for sustainable value creation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Network expansion continues to be a key priority. Oman Air has announced new destinations including Amsterdam, Copenhagen, and Baghdad for 2025, with plans to add Sochi, Taif, Singapore, and Tashkent in 2026. The airline also intends to increase frequencies on important routes such as Dubai and Salalah. Its forthcoming entry into the oneworld alliance is expected to enhance global connectivity and feed traffic into Oman.<\/p>\n<p>Passenger growth has been supported by improved service offerings. Recent initiatives include a revamped Oman Air Holidays platform, expanded ancillary services, a new digital servicing system, and a dedicated call centre. The airline has also introduced a Net Promoter Score (NPS) programme to monitor customer satisfaction.<\/p>\n<p>Korfiatis highlighted, \u201cWe are raising the bar for guest experience while maintaining affordability. Our investments in digital platforms and service quality are already resulting in higher customer satisfaction and repeat business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On the domestic front, Oman Air has prioritized accessibility, maintaining fixed fares for Omani nationals on the Muscat\u2013Salalah route during the Khareef Dhofar Season and throughout the year. Capacity and passenger volumes on this route have experienced strong double-digit growth since 2022.<\/p>\n<p>In early 2026, despite regional disruptions, Oman Air maintained uninterrupted operations across 80% of its network, adding 1,378 extra flights and transporting over 393,000 passengers during the period. Cargo capacity increased dramatically by 490%, helping to ensure the steady flow of essential goods.<\/p>\n<p>Looking ahead, Oman Air plans to deepen its transformation through further digitalisation, fleet modernisation, and network expansion, while continuing to enhance in-country value and develop local talent. Omanisation levels have reached 80%, supported by training and leadership succession programmes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur ambition is clear,\u201d concluded Korfiatis. \u201cWe are building a financially
