Sustainability Week (OSW) in Muscat later this week.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Saleh al Saadi, Director of the Sustainable Energy Research Centre (SERC) at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), explained that the study focuses on the techno-economic feasibility of wave energy in Oman. The research is a collaborative effort involving Oman LNG, EJAAD, SERC, the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering at the College of Engineering, and the College of Agriculture and Marine Science at Sultan Qaboos University.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur findings reveal that North Oman has a stable low-to-moderate wave resource, which can serve as a valuable complementary renewable energy source within the national energy portfolio,\u201d Dr. al Saadi stated.<\/p>\n<p>This study aligns with Oman Vision 2040, supporting national goals for net-zero carbon emissions, sustainability, innovation, and diversification of the energy sector through emerging ocean renewable energy technologies.<\/p>\n<p>While Oman has undertaken various initiatives to explore its coastal wave energy potential, this latest research stands out for its comprehensive methodology. It combined in-situ wave measurements with advanced computer modeling to thoroughly analyze wave conditions and energy potential along Oman\u2019s coastline. The study also evaluated multiple wave energy technologies to identify the most technically and economically suitable options for local conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the research examined efficient methods to integrate wave-generated electricity into the national grid. An interactive digital platform was developed to facilitate analysis of technical and financial feasibility for future wave energy projects.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. al Saadi emphasized that the success of wave energy projects in Oman will hinge on selecting technologies tailored to the country\u2019s wave patterns, minimizing transmission losses, and implementing projects progressively as technology improves and costs decline. He also stressed the importance of considering real-world electricity grid requirements in the planning stages of future renewable energy initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>Among the technologies assessed, the WaveDragon system demonstrated notable electricity generation potential, while Oscillating Water Column (OWC) systems showed greater cost-effectiveness under Oman\u2019s marine
