The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources has successfully completed a project to rehabilitate marine sites in Musandam Governorate. This initiative involved constructing 12 fixed jetties and 11 shelters to support fishing communities.<\/p>\n<p>The project focused on coastal areas within the wilayats of Dibba and Khasab, as well as the Niabat of Lima, aiming to enhance fisheries infrastructure, promote the sustainability of fish resources, and improve working conditions for fishermen.<\/p>\n<p>In Dibba, the rehabilitated locations include Haffa, Sanat, Shariyah Al Hilwah, Adas, Al Sadwin, Dini, and Aqaba. In Khasab, the work covered Nazifi, Sham, Sibi, Ghab Ali, Quba, Shisha, Shabus, Al Balad, Ghafoul, Al Bout, and Kumzar. The Niabat of Lima saw improvements in Emis and Maiwi.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Ali bin Abdullah al Alawi, Director-General of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries, and Water Resources in Musandam Governorate, highlighted that fishing remains one of the region&#8217;s most vital economic activities and a key income source for local communities. He noted that Musandam\u2019s marine environment supports diverse fish stocks, but many fishermen operate from scattered coastal sites within khors, often distant from wilayat centers. This reality underscored the need for site rehabilitation and the provision of essential infrastructure and services for fishermen and their families.<\/p>\n<p>The project\u2019s construction of fixed jetties and shaded shelters is designed to improve services, reduce operational difficulties, and offer safer, more efficient fish-landing facilities. Additionally, these facilities aim to preserve the quality of landed fish and protect fishing gear from damage.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Al Alawi emphasized that the enhancements would facilitate easier boarding and disembarkation, especially benefiting elderly fishermen and women. The upgrades are also intended to encourage fishermen to continue their profession and support increased fish production throughout the governorate.<\/p>\n<p>Khalifa bin Ali al Shehhi, Director of the Fisheries Wealth Department, stated that seven fixed jetties were built at marine sites in Dibba, with five constructed in Khasab. Furthermore, 11 shelters were established at marine sites in the Wilayat of Khasab.<\/p>\n<p>Al Shehhi added that the department has submitted a proposal for a subsequent phase of the rehabilitation
