Hydrogen Oman (Hydrom), the state-owned entity spearheading Oman\u2019s green hydrogen ambitions, has concluded its promotional roadshow in South Korea, advancing the Sultanate&#8217;s goal to become a leading global hub for clean energy.<\/p>\n<p>The delegation was led by Mohsin bin Hamad al Hadhrami, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, and included Shaikh Zakariya bin Hamad al Saadi, Oman\u2019s Ambassador to South Korea, along with Eng Abdulaziz bin Said al Shaithani, Managing Director of Hydrom. During their visit, they engaged with senior officials from Korean energy institutions and hosted the Oman\u2013Korea Green Hydrogen Investment Forum in Seoul.<\/p>\n<p>Al Hadhrami emphasized Oman\u2019s steady progress in establishing itself as a key centre for the production, transportation, and export of green hydrogen. He stated, \u201cOur vision is to diversify the energy mix through renewables and green hydrogen, ensuring energy stability, supporting economic growth, and creating sustainable value. These initiatives align with Oman\u2019s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The roadshow showcased Oman\u2019s comprehensive national hydrogen ecosystem, featuring dedicated land allocations, shared infrastructure, and supportive regulatory frameworks. It coincided with Hydrom\u2019s announcement of financial incentives designed to enhance project viability and attract global investment. In August 2023, Oman and South Korea signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at deepening collaboration on clean energy technologies, policy development, and capacity building.<\/p>\n<p>Al Hadhrami noted that this agreement builds upon their historic oil and gas partnership, expanding it into the realms of hydrogen innovation and supply chain development.<\/p>\n<p>Ambassador Al Saadi highlighted that the forum represented a significant step in strengthening bilateral economic relations and unlocking new opportunities in renewable energy. \u201cThe Embassy prioritizes promoting Oman\u2019s attractive investment landscape and facilitating direct connections between governments and businesses of both countries,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Hydrom\u2019s Managing Director, Al Shaithani, revealed that Oman has allocated over 50,000 square kilometers for hydrogen projects. To date, nine projects have been awarded across two bidding rounds, with investments surpassing $50 billion, aiming to produce 1.5 million tonnes of green hydrogen annually by 2030.<\/p>\n<p>The third bidding round, launched in April 2025, offers a nine-month preparation period, increased site flexibility of up to 300 square kilometers, and a new package of incentives to attract further investment.<\/p>\n<p>Al Shaithani underlined Oman\u2019s strategic location between Europe and Asia, its abundant solar and wind resources, stable economy, and transparent regulatory environment. He noted that Korea\u2019s advanced technological capabilities and market access complement Oman\u2019s natural advantages, laying the foundation for a green hydrogen trade corridor. \u201cThis roadshow demonstrated that our partnership is ready to progress from dialogue to implementation\u2014from discussions on opportunities to real projects that enhance energy security and accelerate the global energy transition,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The delegation also visited Doosan\u2019s facilities in Changwon to review cutting-edge hydrogen technology developments. This mission highlighted the increasing international interest in Oman\u2019s approach to hydrogen and represented a critical step toward establishing future energy corridors linking Oman to global demand centers.<\/p>\n<p>Hydrom serves as the national coordinator for Oman\u2019s hydrogen economy, overseeing project auctions, infrastructure development, and the creation of value chains to
