Their product, branded Mosilian, is now available in most Chinese supermarkets.<\/p>\n<p>Historically, the health benefits of Bulgarian yogurt were highlighted in the early 20th century by Bulgarian microbiologist Stamen Grigorov and Russian zoologist \u00c9lie Metchnikoff, who discovered that yogurt consumption contributed to the longevity of Bulgarian peasants.<\/p>\n<p>According to Prof. Dr. Penka Petrova, the director of the Institute of Microbiology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Bulgarian yogurt contains <em>Lactobacillus bulgaricus<\/em> and other regional bacteria that enhance health, immunity, and longevity. \u201cBulgarian yogurt may be the world&#8217;s first probiotic and has been used to treat various ailments.
