has announced a recall affecting 1.9 million vehicles worldwide due to issues with rear-view cameras. This is part of an ongoing series of recalls related to the same problem.<\/p>\n<p>The recall encompasses a range of models from the 2015 to 2019 production years, including the Lincoln MKC, Lincoln Navigator, Mustang, F-Series trucks (F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550), Expedition, Edge, Transit, Transit Connect, Econoline, and Ranger. Ford&#8217;s filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) indicated that the rear-view cameras may display images that are inverted, distorted, or entirely blank.<\/p>\n<p>Of the total vehicles affected, approximately 1.45 million are located in the United States, 122,000 in Canada, and around 300,000 in other markets.<\/p>\n<p>Ford reported it is aware of 44,123 warranty claims related to this specific issue, along with 18 related accidents; fortunately, there have been no reported injuries. Dealers will be tasked with inspecting and replacing the faulty cameras, according to the U.S. auto safety regulator. Earlier this year, the automaker recalled 160,000 vehicles from the 2015 model year due to similar rear camera failures.<\/p>\n<p>In November, Ford agreed to a civil penalty of $165 million following an NHTSA investigation that determined the company failed to promptly recall vehicles with defective rear-view cameras. The NHTSA initiated an investigation in August 2021 to assess whether Ford acted quickly enough following a recall of 620,246 vehicles in 2020 for the same issue. This recall was expanded in 2022 and again in March 2024, adding approximately 24,000 vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, last year, the NHTSA referred seven allegations of rear-camera failures in vehicles from 2015 to 2018 to Ford for further investigation.<\/p>\n<p>In a separate notice, Canadian auto parts supplier Magna International announced a recall of more than 250,000 rear-view cameras
