two-day workshop titled <strong>\u201cQuality and Standardisation: From Concept to National Impact\u201d<\/strong> at the Ministry\u2019s headquarters.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop convened specialists, experts, and representatives from government, private, and academic sectors, alongside entrepreneurs and small and medium enterprises (SMEs), to explore how quality and standardisation can enhance national competitiveness and foster innovation.<\/p>\n<p>Imad bin Khamis al Shukaili, Director General of Standards and Metrology at MoCIIP, highlighted the Ministry\u2019s ongoing development of a national strategy for quality and standardisation. This strategy serves as a roadmap to build a knowledge-based, competitive economy driven by quality and innovation.<\/p>\n<p>Al Shukaili outlined that the strategy aims to reinforce institutional frameworks, boost the competitiveness of Omani products, support export growth and import substitution, and empower local talent to lead transformation within this critical sector.<\/p>\n<p>Emphasizing the Ministry\u2019s vision, he stated that <strong>\u201cquality must become a way of life and standardisation a language of progress,\u201d<\/strong> which will contribute to elevating Oman\u2019s position on the global stage.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop included interactive sessions and practical exercises focusing on key elements of quality infrastructure\u2014such as specifications, metrology, accreditation, conformity assessment, and market surveillance. It also addressed common misconceptions about quality and demonstrated how standards have a direct impact on public health, safety, and consumer confidence.<\/p>\n<p>Participants examined international case studies where quality-driven strategies produced significant economic and development benefits, followed by open discussions to exchange insights and experiences.<\/p>\n<p>The second day will concentrate on the connection between standardisation and sustainable development, the role of standards in supporting SMEs, ensuring product safety in the Omani market, and enhancing
