Governorate. The fortification is believed to have been constructed around 1845. The restoration project was completed at a cost of RO186,822.<\/p>\n<p>Eng. Khalsa Khalifa Al Salmia, Director of the Department of Restoration and Maintenance, highlighted the Ministry\u2019s strong commitment to safeguarding archaeological sites throughout Oman. She noted that the \u201cSur Al Hilal\u201d wall is a key initiative aimed at enhancing the cultural and historical value of heritage landmarks while promoting sustainable tourism development in the region.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cSur Al Hilal\u201d wall stands as a testament to the rich history of Al Suwaiq and reflects the Wilayat\u2019s commercial significance in the early twentieth century. Historically, the site functioned as a hub for trading local goods and products.
