(SEZAD), highlighting Al Duqm\u2019s rising prominence as a key destination for investments in the clean energy sector. Eng Ahmed bin Ali Akaak, CEO of SEZAD, emphasized this development as part of the zone\u2019s expanding role in the emerging renewable energy industry.<\/p>\n<p>The signing ceremony included senior representatives from the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ) and Mawarid Turbine, the investor behind Oman\u2019s first wind turbine manufacturing facility.<\/p>\n<p>Eng Akaak described the project as one of several strategic investments designed to position Al Duqm as a vital hub for clean and renewable energy industries, reflecting the zone\u2019s strong investment climate. He noted that the initiative marks Duqm\u2019s entry into wind energy manufacturing, supporting the localisation of sustainable industries and the creation of a national industrial base geared towards energy transition. This aligns with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.<\/p>\n<p>SEZAD is spearheading the transition to clean energy with an ambitious strategy aiming to achieve 30% clean energy generation within the next five years and target carbon neutrality by 2050. <\/p>\n<p>Al Duqm\u2019s appeal to investors is further strengthened by its vast land availability, abundant wind and solar energy resources, strategic position along global shipping routes, and world-class infrastructure. These factors collectively contribute to lowering energy costs and boosting the region\u2019s competitive edge.<\/p>\n<p>Phase 1 of the wind turbine manufacturing plant commenced in April 2025, with a total investment of RO 70 million. This facility will serve as the region&#8217;s first major hub for manufacturing wind turbines and localising renewable energy technologies, while creating new employment opportunities. It is also expected to supply components to ongoing wind energy projects.<\/p>\n<p>The project is anticipated to lower costs and logistical challenges, deliver highly efficient products to both local and international markets, and open expansive opportunities for exporting Omani expertise and products.
