private-sector companies, aimed at expanding union membership and enhancing workplace dialogue, the federation announced on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>This initiative is being implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour, the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and sectoral general unions. The first phase involved a series of visits to North Al Batinah Governorate from January 19 to 27, 2026, focusing on labour unions and management within private establishments.<\/p>\n<p>GFOW stated that the visits are intended to promote the establishment and growth of unions in private-sector companies, increase awareness about the role and principles of union activities, and foster a culture of dialogue between workers and employers. This approach seeks to organise labour relations and balance the interests of both parties.<\/p>\n<p>Ibrahim Al Ghuraibi, acting director of the federation\u2019s Union and Labour Services Department, explained that the objective is to engage directly with workers, clarify how unions protect rights and interests, and facilitate face-to-face meetings between employees and employers to bridge differences and encourage negotiation in workplace management. The visiting team also offers legal support concerning labour demands and the procedures for establishing labour unions.<\/p>\n<p>Ammar Al Ghafili, assistant president for labour legislation, noted that the team encountered frequent questions primarily related to working hours, official holidays, and occupational safety and health practices. Responses were provided in a balanced manner, emphasizing adherence to applicable laws and the operational conditions of each company. He highlighted that limited legal awareness does not necessarily indicate serious violations but can disrupt contractual relations or prompt unsupported claims. Al Ghafili stressed that labour stability is vital for both economic and social stability, and that challenges should be resolved through legal and regulatory frameworks grounded in dialogue rather
