Alternative Energy (OQAE) has announced substantial construction advancements on its Riyah 1, Riyah 2, and North Oman Solar projects. These renewable energy initiatives are slated to commence operations by the end of 2026, collectively generating 330 megawatts (MW) of clean energy capacity.<\/p>\n<p>Developed in collaboration with TotalEnergies, the projects represent a combined investment of over $230 million. They encompass wind farms located at Petroleum Development Oman\u2019s Amin and West Nimr fields in southern Oman, alongside the North Oman Solar plant at Saih Nahaydah. Together, these facilities will deliver clean electricity to PDO\u2019s grid, contributing to the Sultanate of Oman\u2019s broader objectives for energy transition.<\/p>\n<p>The projects have achieved several milestones within Oman\u2019s renewable energy sector, including the development of the country\u2019s largest wind farm and the execution of the longest inland transport convoy for wind turbine components.<\/p>\n<p>Construction on the North Oman Solar project is notably advanced, with 95% of the tracker and photovoltaic module installations completed. Full installation is expected by mid-March 2026. For the Riyah wind projects, seven turbines with a tip height of 200 meters have been fully installed. All 36 wind turbine generators have arrived in Oman, with 19 already transported to the project sites, and foundational work for all turbines has been completed.<\/p>\n<p>OQAE has also surpassed its in-country value (ICV) commitments by achieving approximately 30% local content. This has been facilitated through the involvement of Omani companies in engineering, logistics, civil works, and electrical systems. Key infrastructure has been supplied by local manufacturers such as Voltamp, Oman Cables, Al Kiyumi Switchgear, and Al Hassan Switchgear. Additionally, Worley Oman has contributed substation engineering design, while Khimji Ramdas has managed specialized logistics and customs services.<\/p>\n<p>Omanisation efforts have exceeded expectations, with Omani nationals comprising 40% of the workforce and around 150 direct and indirect jobs created during the development and construction phases. Furthermore, OQAE has introduced an on-the-job capability development program that places 15 Omani professionals in roles across construction management, engineering, health, safety and environment (HSE), and operations to enhance local expertise in renewable energy.<\/p>\n<p>Kumail Said, Acting CEO of OQ Alternative Energy, emphasized that these projects were intentionally designed to
