MUSCAT: OQ Group, in collaboration with OQ Trading and Takatuf Oman, has announced the launch of a new phase of the “Oman Pioneers” programme. This initiative will provide 100 international scholarships over the next five years to nurture highly skilled Omani talent.
As part of the agreement, 20 scholarships will be awarded each year, allowing students to pursue higher education at prestigious international universities. The academic fields selected for these scholarships align with Oman’s national priorities and anticipated labour market needs.
This programme underscores OQ’s ongoing commitment to investing in human capital and enhancing the capabilities of Omani youth, supporting the nation’s transition towards a knowledge-based economy in accordance with Oman Vision 2040.
Eng Ali bin Mohammed al Lawati, Chief Human Resources and Technology Officer at OQ, emphasized that investing in national talent is a fundamental aspect of the group’s strategic vision. “OQ has a long-standing dedication to empowering Omani talent. Through the ‘Oman Pioneers’ programme, we continue to offer educational and development opportunities that prepare young Omanis to meet future challenges and help realize the goals of Oman Vision 2040,” he stated.
The initiative aims to develop national intellectual capital by exposing students to advanced academic environments and global research opportunities. Scholars will focus on specialised disciplines deemed critical to Oman’s economic diversification and sustainable development.
