Oman Advances Air Mobility Strategy: Key Implications for Investors and Business Opportunities
Muscat, July 2 – An international consortium of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) specialists, led by GUAMobility, has been commissioned by the Omani Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, in collaboration with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the Oman Logistics Centre (OLC), to develop the Sultanate of Oman’s National Advanced Air Mobility Strategy.
GUAMobility, headquartered in France, announced this significant development on Wednesday. The consultancy firm characterized the mandate as a “historic milestone for the future of Advanced Air Mobility in Oman.” This award was made during a national forum on AAM, organized by the CAA in Muscat late last month.
Experts indicate that the GUAMobility-led team will craft a comprehensive roadmap for the safe, phased, and commercially viable introduction of next-generation aviation technologies in Oman. The project will involve assessing market potential and identifying priority use cases such as passenger transport, logistics, emergency medical services, infrastructure inspection, and oil and gas operations.
Additionally, the team will formulate regulatory and certification frameworks in partnership with the CAA, plan essential infrastructure—including vertiports and airspace management systems—evaluate investment and business models, and recommend workforce development initiatives. An implementation roadmap will outline short-, medium-, and long-term milestones.
GUAMobility is backed by a multidisciplinary network of international partners, each contributing specialized knowledge to the formulation of Oman’s National Advanced Air Mobility Strategy. Key partners include GIS HUB for geospatial intelligence and analytics, Innovitech for innovation consultancy, DTA International for digital transformation, EGIS for engineering consultancy, SETEC for infrastructure engineering, FRACS for aviation safety, CGX for geospatial solutions, JADE ADVISORY for strategic advisory services, MIXHIVE for innovation ecosystems, and LUNA for future mobility solutions.
Oman aims to become a regional leader in Advanced Air Mobility by creating a safe, innovation-driven, and commercially viable ecosystem that aligns with the country’s broader transport, logistics, and economic diversification initiatives. The national strategy, spearheaded by the CAA, focuses on establishing enabling regulations, modern airspace management systems, vertiport infrastructure, and operational frameworks to support the deployment of electric and hybrid-electric aircraft for various applications, including passenger transport, cargo logistics, emergency medical services, search and rescue, infrastructure inspection, and oil and gas operations.
As this vision gains momentum, it has spurred the development of a growing ecosystem involving local and international technology companies, aviation consultants, engineering firms, infrastructure specialists, geospatial solution providers, drone operators, digital platform developers, training institutions, and research organizations.
