Muscat Governorate Introduces Online Damage Assessment for Traffic Accidents
The Muscat Governorate has announced that drivers and vehicle owners can now request an assessment of damages to public road infrastructure caused by accidents. This process allows for an approved technical report detailing the costs to be obtained online.
To initiate a claim for traffic accident costs, individuals must access the necessary documents through the online traffic accident costs claim service, specifically the evaluation form for material damages issued by the Royal Oman Police.
Traffic accident costs encompass damages to various infrastructure, including street lighting poles, traffic signals, signs, iron barriers, asphalt layers, concrete barriers, road markings, plant types, irrigation systems, shock-absorbing barriers, and roadside protections.
Application Submission Process
Affected individuals can electronically submit their applications via the Muscat Municipality portal at www.mm.gov.om, attaching the evaluation form produced by the Royal Oman Police.
Once the application is submitted, it is reviewed by a qualified employee. Subsequently, a specialized technical team is dispatched to the site of the accident to inspect the damage and execute necessary repairs. The team then prepares a detailed report that outlines the repairs conducted, along with a cost analysis of the damages incurred.
In 2024, there were 338 reported accidents involving vehicles striking fixed objects. Among these incidents, 86 occurred in Muscat, while others were recorded across various regions: 42 in Musandam, 52 in Al Dhakiliyah, 51 in South Al Sharqiyah, 33 in North Al Sharqiyah, and 28 in Al Dhahirah.
