Oman’s Ambitious Goal to Attract One Million Indian Tourists Annually: What It Means for Investors and Business Owners

The Sultanate of Oman aims to attract one million tourists annually from India, a senior official from the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT) announced during a recent workshop held in Jaipur.

Yousuf Khalaf Al Mujaizi, Assistant Director of Business Development at MHT, stated, “We are investing in multi-channel campaigns targeting luxury travel, weddings, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), and adventure tourism.”

He emphasized that India is a priority market due to strong cultural and economic ties, as well as its vast and diverse traveler base.

In the first five months of this year, Oman welcomed 246,663 tourists, while Indian visitors numbered 623,623 in 2024, making India the second largest source of tourists after the UAE.

Recently, MHT concluded a series of promotional workshops in India, involving 25 Omani tourism institutions. These workshops facilitated meetings with 150 outbound travel companies from India to enhance collaboration and attract specific segments of Indian travelers.

The events saw significant participation from leading Indian tourism companies and specialized media, highlighting the growing interest in Oman as a travel destination within the Indian market.

The campaign aims to increase awareness of Oman’s tourism offerings and promote its status as a fully integrated destination, showcasing the key services, facilities, and products available in the Omani tourism sector.

During the workshops, Omani tourism entities presented a variety of travel packages, visitor facilities, and exclusive offers tailored specifically for Indian tourists.
