Oman Explores Strategic Investment Opportunities with Russia: Implications for Investors and Entrepreneurs
MOSCOW — A delegation from the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) is actively participating in the ongoing Moscow—Sultanate of Oman business forum in the Russian Federation. The delegation undertook a series of official visits and meetings aimed at strengthening economic and investment ties between the two friendly nations.
Led by Eng Ibrahim bin Abdullah al Hosni, Board Member and Chairman of the Digital Economy and Artificial Intelligence Committee, the delegation toured the Skolkovo Innovation Centre, Russia’s premier hub for innovation. There, they received briefings on several technological projects and startups hosted at the centre. Additionally, the group visited multiple Russian companies and factories specializing in advanced technology, mining, and logistics services.
The delegation took part in various workshops at the BRICS Urban Future Forum (Cloud Cities Forum) in Moscow. These included discussions on key topics such as “The Power of Algorithms: Strategies Towards an AI World” and “Robot Consciousness: AI, Data and Ethics.” They also participated in a working session titled “From Moscow to the Middle East: A Pure Partnership,” while organizing bilateral meetings with Russian firms to explore collaboration and investment opportunities.
During their stay in Russia, the delegation met with Omani Embassy officials in Moscow, including Counselor Mohamed al Habsi, Deputy Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Russian Federation, and several embassy advisors. This meeting reviewed the main outcomes of the bilateral discussions with Russian companies, focusing on expanding cooperation, particularly in software and advanced digital technologies.
Furthermore, a joint meeting was held with the Moscow Chamber of Commerce, chaired by Platonov Vladimir. Both parties praised the 40-year history of Omani-Russian economic relations and highlighted the importance of regular meetings between the two chambers to enhance business collaboration. Russian companies presented introductory information about their operations and potential areas for partnership with Omani businesses.
Eng Ibrahim al Hosni underscored that the delegation’s participation in these events marks a crucial step towards forging new economic and investment partnerships between Oman and Russia. He stated that the positive outcomes of the visit will bolster trade relations and advance cooperation in advanced technology, the digital economy, and various industrial sectors.
