Muscat, August 14
InvestOman, the flagship investment promotion agency of the Sultanate, has finalized agreements that pave the way for the establishment of Oman’s inaugural aviation simulation centre. This initiative is a significant step toward positioning the country as a prominent aviation hub in the region.
The Evolve Flight Simulation Training Centre, developed by Evolve Flight Training Services (EFTS), will be located in Madinat Al Irfan, a new urban district in Muscat. It aims to deliver state-of-the-art training for pilots.
In a statement unveiling the project, InvestOman remarked, “The Sultanate of Oman is advancing strategically in aviation training with the introduction of the Evolve Flight Simulation Training Centre—Oman’s first advanced facility of its kind. This project boasts an investment of USD 25.3 million and benefits from the support of both local and international partners.”
The demand for aviation training is on the rise, with projections indicating that Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries will require over 2,500 pilots annually by 2040. Furthermore, there has been an 87% increase in the demand for simulation-based training since 2022.
Spanning 4,000 square meters, the centre will feature a modern three-bay simulator complex designed with eco-friendly principles, including energy-efficient construction and green spaces. It is set to be the first facility in the region to achieve LEED Platinum certification and will operate entirely on solar power.
Additional features will include auditoriums, pilot lounges, cafeterias, and digitally enabled classroom and briefing areas, ensuring that trainees receive comprehensive support in a contemporary, technology-driven environment.
Separately, Evolve is also developing a similar facility at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Aerospace Hub (MBRAH) in Dubai World Central, which will accommodate up to eight simulators. Both centres will offer advanced infrastructure and a sophisticated fleet of full-flight simulators, including models like the Airbus A320 NEO/CEO and Boeing 737 MAX.
This new simulation centre in Muscat will enhance Oman’s growing aviation training infrastructure, which currently includes established institutions such as the Oman Air Flight Training Centre and the Oman Aviation Academy. The latter, located at Sohar Airport, is Oman’s leading pilot training institution and the first EASA-certified Approved Training Organization (ATO) in the region, offering a comprehensive range of aviation courses, including the Integrated Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) and Private Pilot Licence (PPL).
The Evolve Flight Simulation Training Centre in Muscat is slated to open in June 2026.
