Leveraging AI for Enhanced Transparency: How Oman’s New Initiative Can Transform Your Business Operations
SALALAH, AUGUST 13 – The strategic and responsible application of artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to significantly improve transparency, performance, and citizen engagement in Oman’s government and private sectors, according to Jennifer McGinty, founder and director of McGinty Consulting.
During her inaugural visit to Oman, McGinty spoke at the Labour Forum 2025, organized by the Ministry of Labour, focusing on the effective and safe use of AI. She emphasized her goal of equipping employees with practical tools while highlighting the critical importance of data security.
“I have extensive experience collaborating with major private firms such as Indeed, Bain & Company, Deloitte, and USAID, which are leaders in leveraging AI tools. However, I have observed that government agencies in the Middle East, North Africa, and even the United States tend to lag behind,” she remarked to the Observer. “In cases where they are employing AI, it is often not in a secure manner. Some agencies are using public AI platforms to store proprietary information — private data about citizens and their governments — which raises significant security concerns.”
McGinty noted that Oman’s Vision 2040, particularly its emphasis on youth employment, presents an excellent opportunity to utilize digital platforms to connect young citizens with government programs.
“Oman is well positioned to leverage these AI tools for direct communication with citizens through emails, public platforms, or social media,” she stated. “I hope the Ministry of Labour will adopt some of these tools to enhance communication.”
For policymakers and AI departments within ministries and the private sector, McGinty recommended initiating a needs-based or baseline study. “It is essential to understand what tasks employees spend their time on and where they require assistance. Failing to do so may result in acquiring multiple AI tools that only a few will utilize, leading to wasted resources,” she explained.
Expressing her admiration for Oman, McGinty described it as “one of the most hospitable places” she has visited, adding, “The respectfulness of the people here stands out, much more so than in many other countries I’ve encountered. I am genuinely impressed.”

ادغام هوش مصنوعی into Oman’s public and private sectors presents an opportunity for increased transparency, performance, and youth engagement. However, businesses must remain vigilant about data security risks as they explore these AI solutions. Smart investors should focus on مشارکتهای استراتژیک with local entities and advocate for comprehensive training to unlock the full potential of AI technologies, thereby ensuring efficient and secure implementation.
