MSX and MEIRA Collaborate: Key Implications for Investors and Businesses in Middle Eastern Markets
MUSCAT, SEPTEMBER 24 – The Muscat Stock Exchange (MSX), under the auspices of Ahmed bin Jaafar Al-Musalmi, Governor of the Central Bank of Oman, hosted the MEIRA Annual Conference 2025 in collaboration with the Middle East Investor Relations Association (MEIRA) at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre on September 24.
This two-day event has drawn over 900 participants, including more than 150 institutional investors and 130 listed issuers, alongside policymakers, regulators, and capital market professionals from across the region and globally. The conference agenda emphasizes its role as the premier forum dedicated to advancing investor relations and promoting sustainable practices within capital markets.
Haitham Al Salmi, CEO of MSX, stated, “Investor relations today extend beyond a corporate function; they are a strategic asset. By encouraging transparent engagement with investors and stakeholders, we help build trust, enhance long-term value, and support institutional objectives.”
He further commented, “Together, we are progressing towards more diverse and resilient economies, as well as world-class financial markets capable of attracting investment and fostering sustainable growth.”
Andrew Tarbuck, Chairman of MEIRA, noted, “The size and enthusiasm of today’s gathering clearly indicate that we possess not just a quorum, but a strong mandate to advance the practice of investor relations—not only for the Middle East but for global capital markets as a whole. It is time to recognize that the Middle East is a significant player on the global financial stage. The initiatives MEIRA has undertaken in the past year exemplify this evolution, from enhancing market transparency to strengthening corporate engagement.”
He added that the event underscores Oman’s rising prominence as an attractive destination for the global capital markets community. “The level of participation and dialogue we have witnessed here reflects the region’s ambition and the relevance of its investor relations professionals on a global scale.”
Paolo Casamassima, CEO of MEIRA, remarked, “Recent years have seen remarkable progress across the region, including the expansion of stock exchanges and the establishment of offices by global asset managers in key hubs such as Riyadh and Dubai. Both sovereign entities and corporations are increasingly adopting greater transparency and active engagement. Investor relations has transitioned from being a ‘nice-to-have’ to a strategic necessity—a vital function that connects companies with investors, regulators, and the broader society.”
