Roundtable Meeting Strengthens Oman-Azerbaijan Economic Ties
Muscat, October 8 – The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) recently hosted a high-level roundtable meeting between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Azerbaijan. The gathering was attended by Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion; Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan; Shaikh Faisal bin Abdullah Al Rawas, Chairman of OCCI; alongside prominent business leaders from both nations.
The objective of the meeting was to reinforce bilateral economic cooperation, broaden investment opportunities, and emphasize the vital role of the private sector in developing joint ventures. Participants engaged in discussions covering key sectors such as renewable energy, mining, tourism, logistics, real estate, agriculture, manufacturing, and technology.
Minister Qais Al Yousef highlighted that the meeting underscores the strong dedication of both countries to expanding collaborative efforts. He emphasized Oman’s commitment, under the visionary leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, to fostering a favorable business environment and attracting foreign investment in alignment with Oman Vision 2040. He also referenced national initiatives including Invest in Oman, Future Fund Oman, and the Investment and Commercial Court, which aim to provide an investment-friendly framework.
Mikayil Jabbarov expressed that the roundtable reflects the deep bilateral relationship and mutual ambition to enhance trade and investment partnerships. He pointed out that the private sectors in both countries serve as pivotal drivers for economic growth, with active collaboration poised to unlock new trade and investment opportunities.
Shaikh Faisal Al Rawas affirmed the steadily strengthening bonds between Oman and Azerbaijan, highlighting the private sector’s potential to launch joint ventures in vital industries such as energy, tourism, food production, and logistics. He noted these efforts align closely with the goals of Oman Vision 2040 to diversify the economy and create jobs.
The program also featured a presentation by Invest in Oman, detailing the Sultanate’s competitive investment advantages and incentives. The Azerbaijani delegation showcased their country’s strategic geographic location connecting Europe and Asia, alongside efforts to diversify the economy and enhance their investment climate.
