Transformation and Sustainable Leadership Forum in Salalah: Key Insights for Business Growth and Innovation in Oman
SALALAH, AUGUST 10 – The Government Transformation and Sustainable Leadership Conference officially began in Salalah yesterday, under the patronage of Shaikh Salim Mustahail Al-Mashani, Advisor at the Royal Court Affairs. This three-day event is part of the 2025 Labour Forum, organized by the Ministry of Labour, and has drawn extensive participation from experts and specialists from Oman and other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
The conference features numerous panel discussions and workshops that focus on crucial issues surrounding labour market transformations and the development of future skills.
The inaugural session, titled Modern Organizational Structures: From Bureaucracy to Institutional Agility, presented working papers addressing institutional challenges faced by administrative bodies, tools for organizational restructuring, procedural re-engineering, and case studies from various countries.
In the coming days, sessions will cover topics such as behavioural engineering, governmental leadership, competencies and talent empowerment, smart management, along with insights from international experiences.
The conference aims to drive innovation and professional development by showcasing the latest technologies and innovations in the labour market to boost productivity, broaden perspectives, enhance social dialogue, and foster professional communication. It seeks to build constructive cooperation among specialists and stakeholders to create a dignified work environment and improve labour regulatory policies. This effort aligns with economic, technological, and social advancements and promotes regional and international cooperation through partnerships to share knowledge and best practices.
In his opening remarks, Nasser Salem Al Hadhrami, Director General of Labour in Dhofar Governorate, emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to change, guided by Oman Vision 2040. He stated, “We believe that change begins from within. We have established an integrated system of innovation and empowerment by launching qualitative initiatives that go beyond programs to invest in people — building a new generation of leaders capable of driving transformation. Over recent years, we have developed policies, digital platforms, leadership programs, and capacity-building projects that support results-based work and strengthen collaboration with private and academic sectors.”
The opening ceremony also included the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the Directorate General of Labour in Dhofar Governorate and Salalah Port Services Company. This partnership underscores the collaboration between the public and private sectors and recognizes the Ministry of Labour’s strategic role in advancing human resources and supporting employment in Oman’s private sector.
