MoL Sets New Wage Transfer Compliance Deadlines: Key Implications for Businesses in Oman
Muscat: The Ministry of Labour has emphasized the critical importance of adhering to wage transfer regulations outlined in Ministerial Resolution No. 729/2024, which pertains to the Wage Protection System. This resolution was officially published in the Official Gazette on 15 December 2024.
The regulation is designed to better regulate the labour market and assist establishments in avoiding financial penalties. Employers are required to ensure that at least 75% of their workforce receive wages through the Wage Protection System starting with the salaries for September 2025, payable in October.
Moreover, the compliance threshold must increase to 90% of employees beginning with the salaries for November 2025, payable in December.
The Ministry underscored that strict adherence to these requirements is vital to protect workers’ rights and promote transparency in wage distribution within Oman’s labour market.
