Dhofar’s Khareef Season Draws Over 800,000 Visitors: What This Means for Business Opportunities in Oman
Salalah – The Khareef Dhofar (monsoon) season attracted a total of 827,115 visitors from June 21 to August 15, marking a 2.1% increase compared to the same period in 2024, when the number of visitors was 810,085.
These figures are based on preliminary estimates for Khareef Dhofar 2025 released by the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The data reveals a significant rise in Omani visitors, who increased by 71.5 percent, reaching 591,577. Visitors from other GCC countries numbered 143,431, while those from other nationalities totaled 92,107.
By August 15, 2025, 639,962 visitors had arrived in Dhofar Governorate via land ports. Meanwhile, 187,153 visitors arrived by air, representing a 15.5% increase in air arrivals.
Notably, nearly half (46.5%) of all Khareef Dhofar visitors came between August 1 and August 15, 2025.

The 2.1% increase in Khareef Dhofar visitors, with a remarkable 71.5% rise in Omani tourists, signals strong domestic tourism growth and rising local engagement.
