Muscat: In collaboration with the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Muscat, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted an event today to commemorate the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Russian Federation.
Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs, emphasized in his speech that the bilateral relationship has experienced consistent growth since the signing of the Document on Establishing Diplomatic Relations in 1985.
Highlighting a significant development, Al Harthy referenced the State Visit by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to the Russian Federation in April 2025. During this visit, several agreements and memoranda of understanding were signed, laying the groundwork for a partnership founded on shared interests and mutual trust.
Oleg Vladimirovich Levin, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Oman, described His Majesty’s visit to Moscow and his discussions with President Vladimir Putin as a pivotal moment in the advancement of bilateral cooperation.
The ambassador underscored the strong commitment of both nations to enhance their cooperation in ways that serve their common interests and promote regional and global security and stability.
The 40th anniversary celebration reaffirms the ongoing dedication of Oman and Russia to deepen joint efforts aimed at contributing positively to security and stability within the region and beyond.
