Corrosion and Materials Innovation Forum: Unlocking Opportunities for Investors and Entrepreneurs in Oman
MUSCAT, JULY 14 — The AMPP Oman Chapter, in partnership with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) and the Oman Society for Engineering (OSE), is excited to announce the return of the Oman Corrosion & Materials Innovation Summit. This significant event is scheduled for September 15–17, 2025, at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre in Muscat.
In its third edition, the summit aims to attract over 1,000 professionals from around the globe to discuss the latest advancements in corrosion prevention, materials science, and asset integrity. With global corrosion costs exceeding $2.5 trillion annually, the summit will highlight innovative strategies designed to extend the lifespan of infrastructure, enhance safety, and mitigate operational risks.
“It was one of the most professionally run and well-attended events we’ve participated in,” remarked Arin Shahmoradian, Technical Manager at SPI Coatings, reflecting on the previous summit held in 2024.
The agenda for the 2025 summit includes keynote speakers, panel discussions, technical presentations, and live demonstrations across various sectors such as oil and gas, utilities, marine, and infrastructure. Key topics will encompass AI-driven integrity management, corrosion under insulation (CUI), smart coatings, and advanced non-destructive testing (NDT) technologies.
In addition to addressing Corrosion & Materials, the conference will introduce a special track focused on “AI in Corrosion Prevention.” This track will examine how artificial intelligence is revolutionizing corrosion and integrity management strategies, enabling more efficient decision-making and real-time operational insights.
The AI track will be structured around five key themes:
-
AI for Corrosion Monitoring in Oil & Gas: Exploring real-time monitoring capabilities for pipelines and tanks, emphasizing internal corrosion detection through machine learning and data analytics.
-
Materials Design & Optimization: Showcasing how AI accelerates the development of corrosion-resistant materials and optimizes alloy compositions and protective coatings using predictive modeling.
-
AI-Driven Predictive Maintenance: Demonstrating how AI integration with IoT sensors can predict corrosion in critical systems, reducing unplanned downtime and maintenance costs.
-
AI in Corrosion Inhibition: Illustrating how AI can optimize the selection and dosage of corrosion inhibitors, with predictive models assessing effectiveness across various environments.
-
AI in Integrity: Focusing on how AI enhances integrity assessment processes, supports lifecycle asset management, automates risk profiling, and aids in making informed decisions.
This year’s summit is particularly timely as Oman continues to invest in energy, infrastructure, and industrial development. Corrosion, often underestimated, has a substantial economic impact, accounting for an estimated 3–5% of national GDP—translating to hundreds of millions of rials lost each year. Experts advocate that with effective strategies, Oman could recover up to 30% of these losses by enhancing corrosion prevention and adopting advanced materials and coatings.
“We are proud to host a global platform that fosters scientific collaboration and positions Oman as a center of excellence in corrosion and materials science,” stated Amjad al Kharusi, Chairperson of the AMPP Oman Chapter and Conference Chair.
Registration is now open. Professionals from Oman, the GCC, and beyond are encouraged to join this impactful platform to exchange ideas, explore new technologies, and establish strategic partnerships focused on corrosion mitigation and materials innovation.
