SEZAD Launches Duqm Summer Series: Boosting Business Opportunities for Tenants in Oman
DUQM: The Special Economic Zone at Duqm is set to host four focused sessions throughout August, aimed at addressing key challenges faced by its tenant community. Topics will include effective implementation of AI, building resilient supply chains, developing adaptive workforces, and fostering workplace cultures that encourage retention and growth.
The Duqm Summer Series (DSS) acknowledges that the needs of 2025 require more than typical business gatherings. Rather than offering generic presentations that promise transformation with little actionable insight, these sessions will feature practitioners who have successfully implemented relevant strategies.
“Our tenant community operates in a dynamic business landscape where practical experience is crucial,” stated Eng. Ahmed Akaak, CEO of SEZAD. “The four DSS sessions will feature speakers who have navigated these challenges and can share not only what has worked, but also how they achieved results and the obstacles faced along the way.”
The series will kick off on August 5, focusing on artificial intelligence and automation. Attendees can expect insights from those who have moved beyond theory into practical deployment, addressing the complexities of workforce transitions and the ethical implications of algorithm-driven decision-making.
The second session on August 12 will examine workforce development from the perspective of organizations that have successfully aligned talent growth with cultural continuity. This discussion will prioritize practical methods for developing personnel while preserving the factors that promote retention, which is particularly vital in a region where keeping skilled professionals is crucial for operational success.
On August 19, the focus will shift to global trade and supply chains. Duqm’s strategic positioning between Europe, Asia, and Africa becomes significant only when companies can adeptly navigate the challenges of modern logistics. This session will feature those who have successfully managed risk and diversified suppliers, sharing lessons learned from maintaining operations amid disruptions.
The final session on August 26 will tackle workplace culture and well-being—topics that have transformed from being seen as secondary to becoming core business imperatives. This discussion will delve into how organizations are fostering genuine connections and supporting mental health, leading to improved performance and employee retention.
Each session will commence at 1:00 PM and last for one hour at SEZAD’s headquarters, catering to the busy schedules of professionals while providing valuable content. The format will blend expert presentations with interactive discussions to facilitate meaningful exchanges across different industries.
Eng. Akaak noted, “The strength of Duqm lies in its diverse industrial landscape, which includes renewables, manufacturing, fisheries, and logistics. When a logistics manager learns supply chain strategies from someone in fisheries, or a renewable energy firm shares workforce solutions with manufacturing executives, that’s where real innovation occurs. The DSS sessions are designed to foster such connections among professionals who have practical experience and face real challenges.”
