Enhanced Monitoring for Illegal Employment: How New Security Services Impact Your Business in Oman
Muscat: To enhance the effectiveness of labour inspections, the Ministry of Labour has delegated certain responsibilities to the Security and Safety Services Corporation, effective January 5, 2025. This initiative aims to tackle illegal and unauthorized employment, decrease violations, create job opportunities, and facilitate the employment of Omani workers.
The Inspection Unit, established under an agreement with the Ministry of Labour in 2024, is crucial for carrying out inspection tasks, offering security support services, and managing labour care centres linked to the Ministry.
The Inspection Unit has been granted judicial authority over certain workers through Royal Decree No. 18/2024, strengthening its capacity to enforce the Labour Law and regulations pertaining to Omanisation. This unit plays a vital role during inspection campaigns by detaining non-Omani workers who violate the Labour Law and overseeing labour care centres.
Currently operating in Muscat, Al Batinah North, and Dhofar, the unit has plans for expansion into additional governorates. The labour care centres have been equipped with advanced technology and comply with established safety, health, and security standards.
Furthermore, the Security and Safety Services Corporation offers training for newly recruited personnel, conducting specialized courses in collaboration with relevant authorities.
